Veterinary Surgeon
Board-certified surgeon wanted: Join Edmonton's most collaborative specialty team—10+ year stable core, state-of-the-art 20K sq ft facility, and an expanding referral network across Western Canada and the North.
About the Role
Guardian Veterinary Centre is seeking a Small Animal Board Certified Surgeon (offering generous compensation, sign-on bonuses, and a 5% RRSP employer match) to join a specialty team that's built something rare in veterinary medicine: genuine, lasting collaboration. This isn't a revolving-door practice—the core surgical and specialty staff have worked together for over a decade, creating a culture of trust, mentorship, and genuine collegiality that translates into exceptional patient care.
You'll work in a state-of-the-art, 20,000 sq ft hospital with newly updated CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and arthroscopy capabilities. The facility is expanding this year to add 10,000 additional square feet, including a brand-new MRI, dedicated ICU, and extra procedure rooms. You'll have on-site digital cytology analysis for rapid pathology turnaround. The practice serves a robust referral network across Northern Alberta, Northern BC, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut—meaning you'll see a steady flow of interesting, complex cases without the pressure of constant on-call demands inherent to emergency medicine.
Edmonton itself is a vibrant, growing city of 1.3 million with world-class amenities: over 7,300 hectares of urban parkland along the North Saskatchewan River, renowned festivals (Folk Fest, Fringe, Symphony under the Sky), quick access to the Rocky Mountains (Jasper and Banff), NHL hockey with the Oilers at Rogers Place, and a thriving cultural and dining scene. Named one of Forbes' Top 23 places to visit in 2023, Edmonton offers the outdoor recreation and quality-of-life balance that attracts specialists looking for more than just a job.
