About the Role

Dalhousie Varsity Animal Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to bring your skills to a collaborative team that values mentorship and professional growth. This is a part-time position where you'll work alongside experienced veterinarians in a practice that's part of a larger network but maintains that essential community feel.

You'll take on the full scope of vet tech responsibilities—from surgical prep and anesthesia monitoring to patient recovery and detailed record-keeping. Whether you're an experienced RVT or a new graduate eager to deepen your knowledge in physical exams, catheter placement, radiology, and pharmacy, the team here is committed to helping you succeed. If you're preparing for your VTNE, they'll support that journey too.

Key Responsibilities

• Surgical preparation, assistance, and patient recovery
• Anesthesia monitoring and patient assessment
• Venipuncture, catheter placement, and radiology procedures
• Pharmacy support and medication management
• Maintaining detailed and accurate patient records
• Compassionate care for hospitalized patients and client communication
• Managing multiple priorities and problem-solving collaboratively with the veterinary team

Requirements

• Completion of a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technologist program
• Minimum 2 years of experience (new graduates with solid foundational knowledge are also encouraged to apply)
• Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues and pet parents
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Compassionate approach to animal care and client service
• Passion for continuing to learn and grow within the role
