About the Role
Downtown Animal Hospital is seeking a fully licensed Veterinarian to join a collaborative, team-oriented practice nestled in Toronto's vibrant downtown core. You'll maintain a full schedule of mixed appointments with flexibility to address walk-ins, giving you variety in your day while keeping things manageable. The practice is committed to your professional growth, offering in-house resources, continuing education support, and pathways to leadership roles — whether that's medical director, advisory board positions, or special projects. This is a full-time permanent position with flexible scheduling designed to support a healthy work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide preventative care including vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition counseling, laboratory screening, and wellness planning
- Perform routine dental care — comprehensive oral examinations, professional cleanings with scaling and polishing, radiographs, and extractions for experienced clinicians
- Support senior pets through health monitoring, chronic condition management, and preventive care strategies
- Perform routine surgical procedures including spays, neuters, laceration repairs, and umbilical hernia corrections
- Build trusted relationships with pet owners through clear communication and compassionate, heart-centered care
- Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to best practices in patient care and hospital protocols
- Collaborate within a team-based environment, recognizing the importance of every role in delivering exceptional care
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Canada (full license required)
- Minimum 1 full year of experience post-graduation
- Confident performing routine elective surgeries and common procedures independently
- Competency in veterinary dental care including oral examinations, professional cleanings, and radiographs
- Commitment to providing heart-centered, high-quality veterinary medicine
