Help shape the future of vet medicine at a founder-led practice where your clinical skills, leadership, and voice genuinely matter—not just your production numbers.

About the Role

Juno Veterinary is building something new in Toronto's veterinary landscape, and they're looking for an Associate Veterinarian who's as passionate about clinical excellence as they are about being part of a collaborative, growth-focused team. This isn't a traditional associate role—you'll be a clinic captain, mentoring colleagues, driving the "Juno Standard of Care," and playing a real part in shaping how this young, founder-led organization evolves.

You'll manage your own patient appointments and procedures (medicine, surgery, dentistry, and urgent case stabilization), lead the team in quality improvement initiatives, and develop relationships with clients that strengthen their trust in Juno. With a minimum of 2 years' clinic experience, you'll have the autonomy to practice at the top of your license while working alongside veterinarians who have your back. The practice values two-way communication, continuous feedback, and the belief that every team member—from DVM to assistant—plays a vital role in patient care.

This role reports directly to the National Medical Director and is based at Juno's Summerhill clinic in downtown Toronto.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own patient caseload: appointments, procedures, lab interpretation, prescribing, and follow-up care
  • Provide clinical coverage for other team members' patients when the primary veterinarian is unavailable
  • Perform routine and advanced surgical procedures (spays/neuters, mass removals, cystotomies, laceration repair, eyelid and ophthalmic surgery, gastropexy, and cryptorchid repairs)
  • Provide dental care including charting, radiograph interpretation, gingival flaps, extractions, and closure
  • Triage and stabilize urgent/emergent cases before referral
  • Diagnose and treat infectious, inflammatory, metabolic, degenerative, physiologic, and environmental diseases
  • Mentor less experienced veterinarians and support staff, modeling the Juno Standard of Care
  • Participate actively in team meetings to improve clinical quality and outcomes
  • Build strong client relationships through clear communication, proactive care planning, and thoughtful conflict resolution
  • Maintain timely and thorough medical records and task completion
  • Support the team with non-clinical tasks when needed (flexibility is core to Juno's culture)
  • Pursue ongoing education to expand service offerings and clinical expertise

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a general practice setting
  • Medical competence: able to diagnose and treat infectious, inflammatory, metabolic, degenerative, physiologic, and environmental disease
  • Surgical competence in feline and canine spay/neuter (including mature and large breeds), cryptorchid neuter, umbilical hernia repair, mass removals, cystotomy, laceration repair, eyelid surgery, enucleation, and gastropexy (ideally)
  • Dental competence: charting, radiograph reading, gingival flaps, burring and sectioning, extractions, and extraction site closure (ideally)
  • Ability to triage and stabilize urgent/emergent cases
  • Clear, compassionate communication skills with team members and clients
  • Excellent time management (appointments, walk-ins, urgent cases, and administrative tasks)
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt to change
  • Willingness to seek and act on feedback
  • Collaborative approach to working with other veterinarians and support staff
  • Self-awareness of professional strengths and growth areas
  • Comfort with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and abdominal ultrasound (a plus)

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary: $130,000–$170,000 CAD annually (commensurate with experience and skillset)
  • Performance bonus starting at 10% of base salary
  • Opportunity for compensation above the stated range for top-tier experience and impact
  • Access to a growing organization where your professional voice and clinical contributions directly influence company direction
  • Mentorship and professional development opportunities within a founder-led practice committed to continuous improvement
  • Team-focused culture with emphasis on open communication and two-way feedback

About the Practice

Juno Veterinary is a founder-led organization on a mission to establish the "Juno Standard of Care"—a commitment to gold-standard medicine and compassionate treatment that extends to both patients and team members. The practice operates as a collaborative network of clinics where veterinary professionals practice at the top of their license, supporting one another in solving complex cases and building a thriving work environment. At Juno, team members aren't just employees; they're the foundation of every positive patient outcome and community connection.

The Summerhill clinic in Toronto is part of Juno's growing presence across Canada. The organization is transparent about its values and culture: they actively seek team members who thrive on growth, embrace feedback, work collaboratively, and believe that change and adaptation are essential to veterinary medicine's evolution. Juno acknowledges this role may not be a fit for those who prefer working independently, avoid feedback, or are uncomfortable with organizational change—and they're honest about that upfront.
