Shape the future of veterinary care at a founder-led practice that genuinely puts team wellbeing first. Lead, mentor, and practice medicine at the highest standard—with colleagues who have your back.

About the Role

Juno Veterinary is building something different in pet care—and they're looking for a Lead DVM who wants to be part of that journey. This isn't a role where you clock in and clock out; it's a chance to shape the next generation of veterinarians while practicing gold-standard medicine yourself. You'll mentor associate DVMs, champion the Juno Standard of Care across the clinic, and partner with your Practice Manager to build a thriving team environment where everyone—vets, techs, and support staff—feels valued and supported.

As a clinic captain, you'll split your time between your own patient caseload (appointments, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics) and leadership responsibilities: coaching other doctors, reviewing medical records, conducting 1:1 mentoring sessions, shadowing appointments for quality assurance, and collaborating on initiatives to evolve clinical care. You'll work closely with the National Medical Director and other Lead DVMs across Juno's growing network, building a culture where feedback and two-way communication drive continuous improvement.

This is a role for someone who thrives in collaborative, evolving environments—someone who sees leadership as service to their team, not hierarchy. If you love problem-solving, staying curious, and helping colleagues grow alongside you, this could be your next home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage medical safety reports and oversee medical quality standards in the clinic
  • Shadow appointments and review medical records with associate DVMs for mentoring and quality assurance
  • Conduct consistent 1:1 coaching sessions with DVMs covering medicine, surgery, dentistry, client experience, and team communication
  • Partner with the Practice Manager to support medical operational efficiency, member experience, and team development
  • Lead regular meetings with DVMs, support staff leads, and leadership to maintain alignment and drive continuous improvement
  • Conduct annual DVM reviews and development planning
  • Maintain your own active patient caseload including appointments, procedures, diagnostics, and follow-up care
  • Provide medical coverage for clinic patients when primary veterinarians are unavailable
  • Build positive client relationships through proactive communication, care planning, and efficient service delivery
  • Support inexperienced doctors and team members with coaching and guidance
  • Champion Juno initiatives and communicate clinical needs clearly to leadership and support teams
  • Participate actively in team meetings focused on improving medical quality and clinic culture
  • Seek professional development through continuing education and training to expand service offerings

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of veterinary clinical experience in general practice (wellness, medicine, surgery, and dentistry)
  • Medical competence: ability to diagnose and treat infectious, inflammatory, metabolic, degenerative, physiologic, and environmental diseases
  • Urgent care skills: ability to triage and stabilize urgent/emergent cases before referral
  • Surgical competence including feline and canine spays/neuters (including large breeds), cryptorchid neuter, umbilical hernia repair, mass removals, cystotomy, laceration repair, eyelid surgery, enucleation, and gastropexy
  • Dental competence: charting, radiograph interpretation, gingival flaps, burring and sectioning, extractions, and extraction site closure
  • Comfort with POCUS (point-of-care ultrasound) and abdominal ultrasound preferred
  • Leadership experience or strong interest in developing leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—both with team members and clients
  • Demonstrated ability to give and receive feedback constructively
  • Comfort with change and adaptability in a growing organization
  • Willingness to collaborate and support non-clinical tasks when needed
  • Basic understanding of or interest in veterinary business metrics and how quality medicine supports practice health
  • Self-awareness of strengths and areas for growth; motivated to develop professionally and personally
